Comments:
Dixie is a big girl (9 years old) who is all about the belly rubs! She enjoys sunbathing and belly rubs. She appreciates a good meal and belly rubs. Dixie came from a situation where she was a backyard dog. She was incredibly skittish and fearful when she first came into Rescue. It has taken some time but she has gained trust in her foster mom and follows her everywhere.
Dixie does not care for little dogs. I think they are an irritant to her and she does not tolerate their squirrelly-ness. She gets along with the bigger dogs, male and female.
While there are no stairs in her foster home, she could easily do a few steps. Given her age, I don’t think she would do well with stairs in the future. And carrying such a big girl would be pretty difficult for most people.
Dixie needs very slow introductions to people and does not do well at the vet. She would not do well in a busy or loud environment - so no children.
She would do very well in an environment where belly rubs are part of her daily routine.
